Telkom Akses Partners With PEMA on Telecom Expansion

The project marks a broader push to strengthen Aceh’s digital economy and regional connectivity.

PT Telkom Akses has partnered with PT Pembangunan Aceh (PEMA) to expand telecommunications infrastructure across Aceh, as the province pushes to strengthen its digital economy and attract new investment.

Djoko Sri Handono, business director of PT Telkom Akses, and Mawardi Nur, president director of PT Pembangunan Aceh, sign a telecommunications infrastructure partnership agreement in Aceh on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.

BANDA ACEH — The collaboration forms part of a wider infrastructure rollout aimed at improving connectivity in Indonesia’s westernmost province while opening new opportunities for regional business growth.

The project also marks another expansion step for PEMA, the Aceh-owned enterprise that recently entered the U.S. specialty coffee market through exports of Gayo Arabica beans.

PEMA President Director Mawardi Nur said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to supporting digital transformation and expanding access to information infrastructure across the province.

“We understand that telecommunications infrastructure is key to opening access,” Mawardi said.

He added that stronger digital networks would help accelerate growth across productive sectors while ensuring investment creates direct economic impact for local communities.

The partnership is also expected to provide long-term value for PEMA through technology transfer, workforce development and operational experience in managing technology-based infrastructure projects.

Telkom Akses Business Director Djoko Sri Handono described the initiative as part of the company’s long-term strategy to build a sustainable telecommunications ecosystem.

“Through this project, we are encouraging synergy with regional partners,” Djoko said.

He added that involving local companies such as PEMA would help streamline implementation and expand the benefits of digital economic development more evenly across Aceh.

Officials hope the partnership will help position Aceh as a more competitive destination for future digital and industrial investment.
