JAKARTA — Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya said the total came from agreements reached with two of Indonesia’s key Asian partners during the president’s recent trip.

“The total reached $33.89 billion,” Teddy said in a statement.

Japan accounted for the largest share, with pledges amounting to $23.63 billion following meetings between Prabowo and Japanese leaders, including talks with Japan’s prime minister. Discussions focused on strengthening strategic cooperation in investment, energy and the digital economy.

Prabowo also attended a business forum that brought together government officials and private sector investors, resulting in multiple commercial agreements.

In South Korea, Prabowo met President Lee Jae-myung, and the two sides agreed to expand cooperation in areas including industry, energy and emerging technologies.

The two countries signed 10 memorandums of understanding, bringing total commitments from South Korea to $10.2 billion, according to the government.

Jakarta said it would closely monitor the implementation to ensure the agreements translate into real investment, job creation and broader economic benefits.

The trip forms part of Indonesia’s strategy to deepen bilateral ties and attract strategic capital inflows as it seeks to sustain growth and draw long-term foreign capital.

Prabowo returned to Jakarta early on Thursday after the trip.
