NEW YORK — Delivering his remarks at a high-level UN conference on Palestine in New York on Tuesday morning Jakarta time, Prabowo stressed Indonesia’s consistent support for a two-state solution as the only path to lasting peace.
“We must guarantee Palestinian statehood. Once Israel recognizes Palestine, Indonesia will in turn recognize Israel and support security guarantees for Israel,” Prabowo told delegates, drawing applause from heads of state and government representatives in the hall.
He condemned violence against civilians and reiterated Indonesia’s call to end the conflict. “Indonesia reaffirms its commitment to the two-state solution. Only this solution will bring peace,” he said.
Prabowo underscored that recognizing Palestinian independence would be a symbol of unity and humanity. “We must stop the humanitarian disaster in Gaza. Ending the war must be our top priority. We are ready to take part in this journey toward peace,” he added.
The international conference was held on the sidelines of the 2025 UN General Assembly to rally broader global support for Palestinian statehood and strengthen its leverage in peace negotiations with Israel.
