NEW YORK — The meeting takes place at UN headquarters after Prabowo delivers a speech at a high-level international conference on Palestine and the two-state solution.

Foreign Minister Sugiono says Prabowo underscores the need for global solidarity in preserving stability and peace. He also pushes for stronger roles for developing nations in the multilateral system.

“Indonesia remains committed to supporting the multilateral system and believes the UN must be strengthened to maintain world peace,” Sugiono tells reporters.

Guterres and Prabowo discuss strategic issues, including Indonesia’s commitment to a peaceful settlement of the Palestinian conflict through the two-state solution. The Indonesian leader voices full support for UN efforts to carry out its mandate.

Prabowo stresses Indonesia’s willingness to contribute directly to UN missions. “If peace and a ceasefire are achieved, Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping forces to Gaza,” Sugiono says.

Prabowo is accompanied by Foreign Minister Sugiono, Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai, Investment Minister Rosan Roeslani, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Umar Hadi.

On the UN side, Guterres is joined by Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed, Under-Secretary-General for Policy Guy Ryder, Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, and senior advisers.

Indonesia is one of the largest contributors of peacekeepers under UN command, with more than 2,700 personnel deployed worldwide. It has long supported Palestinian statehood and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The New York talks follow Prabowo’s address urging renewed global commitment to the two-state solution as the basis for resolving the decades-long conflict.
